Amazon to increase storage capacity in Karnataka
Ahead of the festivals, Amazon India is set to increase its storage capacity in Karnataka with the launch of its largest fulfilment centre in the state. Karnataka will now have a storage capacity of around 3.5 million cubic feet. In view of the rising demand, Amazon is embracing innovative ideas and efficient technologies in all its fulfilment centres.
The company has also announced various benefits for the sellers during the festivals in October including reduction in the commission and fees in various categories including apparel and home decor.
Further, the e-commerce giant has also planned for more than 50 fulfilment centres in 13 states across India before the end of 2018. Of the five fulfilment centres announced for Karnataka in 2018, this is the e-tailer''s fourth centre.
"In line with our commitment of making deep investments in the country and in turn creating opportunities for employment, we are excited to announce that we will be hiring close to 2000 contractual positions over the next year for this new fulfilment centre in Bangalore. These associates will help in augmenting our capabilities to serve our customers better and enable us to consistently deliver best in class customer experience," media reports said quoting Akhil Saxena, vice president, Customer Fulfilment, Amazon India.
